Vengard was the capital of Myrtana, where the king and the leader of the Circle of Fire resided. The city was located on an elevated plateau stabbing into the ocean. During the Second Orc War the city was the last city that remained unconquered, due to a protective Barrier erected around it.
Role
Vengard served as the capital and residence of the monarch of Myrtana as well as the residence of the leader of the Circle of Fire. It was also one of the main strongholds of the kingdom, securing the whole eastern area of the kingdom.
Economy
Vengard provided much of the demand for all goods of the kingdom, as the people living in the city required large amounts of food, resources and luxury items to sustain itself. As such, a network of roads was established that allowed for quick transportation of goods to the capital as well as several fortresses, including Gotha and Faring to safeguard the passages.
The city in itself produced very little in terms of natural resources. However, its treasure were the merchants and industries located within the protective walls - Vengard was the biggest supplier of processed, highly exquisite items such as weapons, armors or jewelry, not to mention knowledge and magic.
During the second orc war, as the invaders gained ground and conquered the Central Realms, Vengard was isolated and cut off from food supplies and raw materials, which further weakened the kingdom after the loss of Nordmar mines. The last stab was the fall of Khorinis after which the capital quickly lost its prominence and degenerated.
