Nek was a guard from the Old Camp. He used to guard the district of the arena. He disappeared not long before the hero entered the Colony. Before his disappearance he collected all the protection money from the diggers so Fletcher, the new guard who is taking care of his district didn't have what to collect anymore.

The hero was asked by Sly, an influential Shadow, to find Nek. In the search for clues, the hero receives information about Nek from Snaf,a cook from his district. He tells the hero that he sent Nek to find some ingredients for his latest recipe.

He is finally found in a Molerat cave south of the Old Camp, dead.
