Overview

Milten was a young lad, about twenty five years of age. He was an extremely resourceful person, able to make his way up the Old Camp hierarchy, eventually becoming a fully fledged mage. He is also extremely loyal for his age, caring deeply for his friends and refusing to abandon them in any circumstances. However, this often leads to him having problems coping with dire circumstances, as was the case when Gomez ordered the assassination of the Fire Mages.

Biography

Before his conviction

Milten was originally a simple soldier from Sendar, drafted into the Royal Army. But he deserted during an attack of the Orcs, in order to save his life. He wandered the land and upon catching a ship to Khorinis arrived there, and started his life anew. However, he was caught when he stole an apple from one of the merchants. Upon searching him, the militia found the royal army tattoo on his hand. As a deserter, he was thrown into jail where he first met Diego, Gorn and Lester, after which he was thrown, together with his new friends, into the Penal Colony.

In the Colony

Being a resourceful lad, he soon made friends with Lester, Gorn and Diego, forming an exploration party of sorts. He affiliated himself with the Old Camp, and step by step made his way up the hierarchy, eventually doing a remarkable favor for the Ore Barons. This was crucial in his career, as it allowed him to become Corristo's apprentice and eventually a Fire Mage. As a gust of fresh air, he was welcome in the society and soon was assigned the task of guarding the entrance to the Temple of Innos.

He would meet a young convict, about his age, that gave him the letter to the high mage of the Circle of Fire. At the time, he didn't realize who the man was, but took a mental note of him. Eventually, they'd meet again, this time during the Hero's search for the focus stones, near a stone circle that housed the stone. Milten was seeking an Orc Amulet, that supposedly made the Orcs accept the wearer without any question. To acquire it, they needed to defeat the Guardian of the tomb, an undead Ore Baron who made the mistake of trying to take the artifact. Both succeeded, and Milten returned to the Old Camp...

...only to discover that his fellow Fire Mages were assassinated by Gomez. Shocked as he was, he found Diego and decided to stay behind and warn all of his friends of the paranoid guards Gomez stationed outside the camp.

Eventually, he'd make his way to the Water Mages of the New Camp and remained with them as a sort of refugee. There, he'd be contacted by the Hero, who needed someone to help him charge the Uriziel with the power of the ore mound. Remembering his confidence and the fact that he was rarely wrong, as well as his contacts with Xardas, he helped him, and recited the spell as the sword touched the mound. However, this was noticed by the mages. The hero teleported away, prompted by Milten, whom by means unknown managed to convince the Mages to let him go.

After the collapse of the Barrier

Shortly, the Barrier fell, and Milten made his way to the monastery of the Fire Mages in Khorinis, to report on the happenings within the Valley of Mines and give a situation report. He'd remain there for a time, until the paladins under the command of Lord Hagen arrived, and Milten volunteered to help them with his expertise and experience concerning the Valley of Mines and magic ore. However, as the mission slowly began to fall apart, he found himself with little to do, so decided to exercise his alchemy skills and trying to find a way of freeing Diego and Gorn. Here, he was found by the nameless Hero and helped him free Gorn as well as by giving some pointers.

Later, he left the castle and the Valley of Mines, returning to the monastery, seeing how the mission proved to be a total disaster. He was the one that informed the hero of Pedro's treachery and became a guard again. Shortly, he was contacted by the hero again, who was searching for a way of reaching Irdorath. He helped him find a crew and advised him on the matter, eventually becoming the second supporting mage on the ship, after Vatras.

On the mainland

Finishing their business on Irdorath, Milten and his friends sailed to Myrtana for days. Upon their arrival, Myrtana was already conquered by the Orcs and during their reconaissance raid, they entered Ardea and unwittingly liberated it by defeating the Orcs stationed within. During that battle Milten realized that his magical runes did not work and he had to rely on his staff for protection. Put down by the feeling of powerlessness, Milten set out on a quest to learn and master true ancient magic, to become the wisest man in the land.

He would make his way to the Nordmar monastery of the Circle of Fire and there, meditating in the Sanctuary of Innos and paging through the archives he amassed greater and greater amounts of knowledge about magic and history, most importantly the Fire Chalice he managed to find on his way to the monastery. His studies would prove crucial in the ritual of recharging the chalices.

Following the resolution of the Second Orc War, Milten would continue amassing knowledge and wisdom, traveling as far as Bakaresh in Varant in his quest, and eventually, he became the wisest man in the world. Then, he started taking in students and apprentices to teach, eventually becoming one of the main catalysts of the rebirth of the human kingdom.
