Fire Chalices

In Ancient times the first Paladins were not bound to Rune magic and used a form of Ancient magic which was contained inside 12 Golden Chalices;these would later become known as Fire Chalices. Over time the Chalices were lost and the Paladin order stopped using ancient magic in favour of Runes. The Chalices then passed out of record and became dull and lost their magical powers.
However when Xardas destroyed the Rune Magic, upon which the Paladins were reliant, the Paladins became defenceless and lost their magical prowess. Bemused and disorientated by their defeat that followed, at the hands of the Orcs, the Fire Mages and Paladins began a long search for these artefacts. The hope was that the broken order of Paladins could be rebuilt using these magical cups.
As the nameless hero swept across the land he encountered the Golden Magical Chalices and gathered them at the Monastery of Fire in Nordmar. Using the power of Innos the Chalices were once again imbued with magic and handed to 12 remaining Paladins scattered throughout the lands of the World, upon drinking from the newly empowered Chalices the twelve gained the ability to wield magic once again.
