Strategically placed near the trade center of the Valley of Mines, the Abandoned Mine is the first major mining site to be used inside the Mining Colony.
There is no certain data related to the time in which it caved in, or why it did. It is only known that the collapse of the mine happened only after the creation of the Barrier.

It is possible that the cause of the collapse of the mine, was the same earthquake, that was responsible for the destruction of Xardas' first tower.

The collapse of the Abandoned Mine had, besides the cave in of the entrance of the mine, another major consequence, which changed the hydrography of the Valley of Mines.

The collapse of the mine would cause a giant rock to fall off the cliff on which the mine was situated, into the river below, causing it (the river) to massively separate, for a short while, after which it would then reunite.

Tracks of this event, can be found near the caved in entrance of the mine, where a trace of rubble is left behind, which leads to the edge of the cliff, right above the giant rock.
